Last month we
discussed symptoms returning after discontinuing a
supplement. When this happens, this holistically tells us the body has
not healed itself yet and is still dependent on the supplement.
Ideal holistic wellness is having the body in balance and not dependent
on any isolated supplement, drug or medication. Sometimes this cannot
always be achieved but that is our goal. We had more than one comment
regarding last month's article. Some people said they can't afford to
give our expensive product to their whole family (people and pets).
This month, I would like to suggest how one can be able to afford a
superfood product as part of a paradigm
shift that must be achieved in order to experience true holistic wellness. By sharing
our 80+ years of holistic wisdom, we hope to give you more healthy
choices.
Algae
are part of the Protista kingdom of one-celled organisms and are at the
bottom of the food chain. Based on this evolutionary status, Nature
meant algae to be utilized as a food by all the higher kingdoms (i.e.,
Fungi, Plant and Animal) above it. The food chain begins with fungi
utilizing the algae as food. In next higher kingdom, the plants utilize the algae and fungi
for food and nutrients. In the next higher kingdom (i.e., Animal), the herbivorous animals eat the plants and
algae as food. In an intermediate step within the Animal Kingdom,
the carnivorous animals utilize the algae in the water, fungi in the
soil and plants for
nutrients and also eat the herbivorous animals as food. At the highest
level of the Animal Kingdom, omnivorous
animals (including humans) will eat the algae, fungi and plants for nutrients
and also eat herbivorous animals and carnivorous animals for food. These
are the steps in the food chain.
Medicine men of ancient indigenous tribes used to dry algae cakes
and save them as medicine along with other
superfoods of their culture.
They gave it to three classes of people: the sick, the elderly and
pregnant women. They knew the algae superfood contained nutrients that
all these people needed to be well and produce healthy babies. We have
lost this wisdom in our modern day culture
and
spurn algae as something to be avoided, like "pond scum." We chlorinate
our water to kill everything in it and avoid any "green stuff" on our
foods. There are over 70,000 different species of algae on Earth. While
it is true there are some very
toxic (even deadly)
strains, most algae species are very beneficial and even needed by
all life forms. So, what is the point of this biological history lesson?
The first paradigm shift is, just because a pill looks, feels and is
ingested like a supplement,
doesn't mean it is a supplement. Algae in a capsule is NOT a
supplement but a whole
food product.
Think of buying
BioPreparation/BioSuperfood
not as a supplement (i.e., pill) to get rid of symptoms or disease but as a
food to nourish the body and make (keep) it well. This would be
analogous to your doctor prescribing more
Vitamin C because you keep
catching colds and flu and your immune system is shot because your body
is depleted of Vitamin C. Your doctor either prescribes a good
quality Vitamin C supplement with 2-5,000 mg of a time-released formula
for $30.00, or suggests increasing your intake of Vitamin C containing foods,
such as fruits (e.g., citrus fruits, red berries, kiwi, guava, papaya)
and vegetables (e.g., tomatoes, red and green peppers, broccoli,
kohlrabi, cabbage). These days, in our fast-paced modern life-style,
most people would choose the prescribed Vitamin C supplement because
it's easier (but not necessarily cheaper). But is taking the Vitamin C supplement really holistic?
Back in the 18th century, European travelers were crossing the Atlantic
Ocean to the New World. They discovered if they drank fresh lime juice
they
did not get scurvy. It wasn't until the 20th century that research showed taking
isolated Vitamin C in the form of an ascorbic acid supplement, only gets rid of the
symptoms of scurvy. When the ascorbic acid supplement is discontinued the
symptoms and disease returns. However, if one gets Vitamin C made
from an extract of whole green peppers, not only do the symptoms disappear
but the scurvy is gone when discontinued. Vitamin C in the form of a
whole food product contains rutin, bioflavonoids, Vitamin E, selenium and
zinc that Nature dictated is needed for Vitamin C to work
optimally in our body. All these complementary ingredients
are present in whole food
sources of Vitamin C (e.g., green peppers, oranges, rose hips, acerola
cherries, algae). By taking only
an isolated supplement with just ascorbic acid or by juicing an orange
and throwing away the pulp and peel (90% of a fruit's antioxidants
potential), one is missing all the above
necessary ingredients. But in these
economic times, one might find it
hard to even justify a therapeutic quality whole food product with
Vitamin C. Let me show you how easy it is, with another paradigm shift.
In the United States, we are brought up with the idea that wheat is
the staff of life. Most Americans eat bread or something made with wheat
at EVERY meal. Even chicken fried steak, deep fried chicken, breaded
fish sticks, meat loaf and imitation crab meat have wheat in them. This
overabundance
of wheat in our diet is detrimental to some people's health. Many people
with sinus problems or hayfever have at least a sensitivity to wheat, if
not an outright allergy. Wheat aggravates GERD (Gastro-intestinal
Reflux Disease) or acid reflux. Of course, wheat must be avoided by
those with celiac disease. So, what if one cut out most (not
necessarily all) of the toast, English muffins, waffles, donuts, muffins, Danishes,
pastries, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, deep-fried "anything," cake,
cookies, etc. in our diet. How much money would one save and how much
better would one feel? Now by spending what you saved on wheat products,
one can now afford to buy Vitamin C containing foods and even a whole
food product (like BioSuperfood)
to avoid those
multiple colds and flu every season. The second paradigm shift
occurs by thinking in terms of whole
foods (products) and not just supplementing the symptoms with a pill, one can
afford to be healthy.
How many of you are taking over a dozen
supplements? Do you know if they all are working together or if any of
them have
side effects? Would you like to save money,
simplify your life and
buy fewer supplements? The diagram
below summarizes it all. Instead of taking a multitude of isolated supplements
for all your separate symptoms, diseases and imbalances, why not take
ONE whole food product?
Again, one is not taking
BioSuperfood/BioPreparation
to treat any one specific symptom. The third paradigm shift is,
treating the symptoms with a supplement is not truly holistic.
But by taking a superfood
product, one can experience total wellness not just the absence of
disease.

Both the American Cancer Society and
the American Medical Association (AMA) agree with our emphasis on
using whole food nutrition rather than supplements.
- To reduce cancer risk, the best advice
presently is to consume antioxidants through food sources, rather
than supplements.
(“Common Questions About Diet and Cancer,” American Cancer
Society)
- “…there are insufficient data to
justify an alteration in public health policy from one that
emphasizes food and diet to one that emphasizes nutrient supplements.
(“Essential Nutrients: Food or Supplements?” Journal of the
American Medical Association, 2005;294:351-358)
One must practice true holistic health
every day and not just take whole food
products
(or supplements) when one has symptoms. Your body didn't acquire the imbalance,
deficiency or
malfunction overnight, so it is unrealistic to expect a
pill (even from a world-class whole food product like
BioSuperfood and
BioPreparation) to "cure" the condition as soon as symptoms disappear.
STOP supplementing the symptoms and
holistically boost up ALL the body's systems, balance ALL the glands and
organs and experience true holistic health, not just the absence of
disease. Wake up the body's natural ability to heal and watch the
symptoms disappear. Make a quantum leap in holistic health and experience a new paradigm in wellness!
