During our 50+ years of experience in the holistic health
field we have gone through ourselves and experienced from others the following
stages of a healthcare practitioner. We are not judging one stage to be better
or worse than another, any more than one would judge a 6th grader better than a
1st grader because they know more. It is only important for the client to
recognize where the practitioner is amongst these stages and to find the right
stage healthcare practitioner that meets the client’s needs.
Novice — the practitioner discovers a new health
product (e.g., supplement, liquid formula, and device) or service (e.g.,
bodywork therapy, modality, and detoxification procedure) that works wonders
on their body and gives great results. The practitioner proceeds to tell
everyone in their family and all their friends about this miracle product or
service.
Apprentice — the practitioner has told everyone in
their immediate sphere of influence about this new health product or service.
Some people received the same wonderful results they did but some received
little or no benefits and some people actually received a negative reaction.
This latest fact causes the practitioner to stop and re-evaluate the new
product/service. At this juncture, the practitioner either decides to drop
what they were recommending and move on to another new health product or
service or they continue recommending the product/service with a more reserved
approach. The apprentice also discovers there are other products/services that
do the same things their product/service does.
Student — the practitioner becomes a student of the
healing arts by researching and uncovering why their new product/service works
with some people and doesn’t work for others. The practitioner realizes their
product/service is just one tool amongst many that can do the same thing their
product/service does. The student begins to look beyond the physical realm for
causes of illness and disease.
Master — the practitioner now has many health tools
to offer people. They realize the need to balance the spiritual, mental and
emotional bodies for a permanent physical resolution. The practitioner has
discovered their intent when dealing with a client is the most powerful
influence they have over and above the physical healing properties of their
product/service. The practitioner listens to the client. The practitioner is
open to the client trying any other tool or modality that suits the client’s
highest good. The practitioner radiates inspiring healthy energy that
motivates and encourages others to maintain their own health and body.
