********************************************************************************* Am I Getting/Giving Enough? One of the most commonly asked questions regarding our holistic products is, am I getting (or giving to my pet) enough? While this is a legitimate question when using drugs and isolated supplements, our holistic whole food products work on a different health paradigm, so this question is not relevant based on milligrams or IU in a product. Benefits in terms of Minimum Daily Requirement (MDR) and Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) are determined by studies isolating a single nutrient to determine the minimum level to produce an effect, therapeutic level to produce benefits (absence of symptoms) and toxic level for the average body. This is clearly the product doing the work. Often the studies are done using synthetic nutrients because they are “purer” and will produce more consistent results. But is this accurately measuring benefits of a truly holistic whole food product in an everyday body, where it is the body/brain doing the work and NOT the product? Only if one‘s product is made from the same ingredient (natural vs. synthetic) used in the study, from the same source and no other variable (such as other active and inactive ingredients, temperature of production, quality of water source, etc.) changes. One can generally conclude that an isolated supplement containing 1000 mg of Vitamin C is more potent than one containing only 500 mg. But the same is not true for our whole food products (like an orange or salmon). Just because a Valencia orange (a whole food product) may contain 150 mg of Vitamin C, does not mean it is better than a Navel orange, which may only have 75 mg of Vitamin C. As a whole food, there are many other factors determining which may be better, such as sweetness, juice content, seeds, time on the tree, days from harvesting, mineral content of the soil, etc. Read our following newsletter articles for more details on this misconception of measuring benefits in milligrams:
Dosage ≠ Benefits Our general guidelines for a body that does not have severe symptoms and is not critically ill is to start our whole superfood products slowly and work up to one capsule per 20 pounds (9 kg) of body weight, up to the first 60 pounds (27 kg), for general nutrition maintenance. For over 60 pounds (27 kg), we suggest one additional capsule per 30 pounds (13.6 kg) of additional body weight for maintenance. One can increase this maintenance amount for advanced benefits by 1.5-2.0 times if needed and tolerated by the body. For example, an average 150 pound body should do well by working up to 5-6 capsules/day for general nutritional maintenance and up to 10-12 capsules/day for advanced benefits for severe symptoms, degenerative conditions, glandular imbalances, infections, unknown growths, etc. So how does one determine if they are getting enough (or giving enough to their pet) with whole food products? Instead of the Western allopathic medicine paradigm of measuring benefits in milligrams, one must use a new holistic paradigm for our whole superfood products. To help one determine if they are getting enough (or giving enough to their pet) of our whole food products (BioPreparation, BioSuperfood, ALPHA-G and Seacure) here are some general holistic guidelines based on our nutritional experience with the products:
Since our whole superfood products are not like drugs or isolated supplements that have side effects, sometimes not following the suggested guidelines can have wonderful results. Read our newsletter article: Oops! Misread the Instructions Unfortunately, determining if a body is getting enough nutrition from a whole food product is not as direct as with drugs and supplements. One must take a holistic approach and consider the following:
Fortunately, in considering all the above holistic factors, we can determine how you and your pet can get quicker results and maximum benefits from our whole superfood products. An added benefit is the fact that there are no side effects and the body may be able to stand on its own with a reduction in daily amount down to a maintenance level, once the body is back into balance. This is unlike drugs and isolated supplements which have side effects and one generally needs to take more with time or find another product that works in a different way when the original product stops working. If you have a complex health challenge or want quicker results and maximum benefits, consider investing in a Mini-Consult With Product Purchase or a full Holistic Consultation to take advantage of our 90+ years of holistic experience.
