FDA Alert: Certain Lots of Pet Food from Multiple
Brands Recalled for Aflatoxin. From the FDA website:
specific pet food products manufactured by Sunshine Mills under several
brand names, may contain unsafe levels of aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is produced
by the Aspergillus flavus mold, which can grow on corn and other grains. At
high levels, aflatoxin can cause illness and death in pets. Symptoms may
include sluggishness, loss of appetite, vomiting, jaundice (yellowish tint
to the eyes or gums due to liver damage), and/or diarrhea. In severe cases,
this toxicity can be fatal. In some cases, pets may suffer liver damage but
not show any symptoms. Brands include, Family Pet Meaty Cuts®, Heartland
Farms®, Champ®, Field Trial®, Good Dog, Hunter’s Special®, Old Glory®, Paws
Happy Life®, Pet Expert, Principle, Retriever®, River Bend, Sportsman’s

Sunshine Mills, Inc. Expands Previously Announced
Voluntary Recall of Certain Pet Food Products Due to Potentially Elevated
Levels of Aflatoxin.
JANUARY 11, 2021 UPDATE: After
more than 70 dogs have died and 80 have gotten sick after consuming Sportmix
pet food, the FDA has expanded the pet food recall to all pet foods
containing corn manufactured by Midwestern Pet Foods. This food has an
expiration date on or before July 9, 2022. The updated list of recalled pet
food products (as of January 11, 2021) includes lots of the following pet
food products, if the date/lot code includes an expiration date on or before
"07/09/22" and includes "05" in the date/lot code, which identifies products
made in the Oklahoma plant:

Want to avoid all these recalls? The best "wholistic"
 suggestion to prevent
danger to your pet is -- STOP feeding dry kibble pet food. In our
"wholistic" opinion, dry kibble pet food containing
grains is the least nutritious form of
food to feed a carnivore. It is nutritionally equivalent to feeding
meat-flavored cookies to your child. Furthermore, a majority of all pet food recalls is

Don't Want You to Know
We are often asked to
categorize ourselves for new business listings, business ads, financial
forms, etc. The traditional
 choices
include Alternative Medicine, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM)
and Holistic Care but none of these accurately describe what we do. To us it
is not an either/or choice of using Western/Eastern,
conventional/alternative, traditional/holistic… medicine or health care
methods. Instead, we use an integrative approach using all the measurements,
resources and benefits ALL of these different paradigms offer. Then we
integrate our 100+ years of combined "wholistic"
experience, to formulate personalized holistic suggestions that
work for our clients. The key difference is we do not rely on any one system
but integrate whatever will actually work to resolve the
client's imbalance. The ratio of each paradigm used may change according to
the severity of the symptoms, client's health history and their body's
immediate needs. Here is one example.
A client started out
being hypoglycemic and then trended towards prediabetic as they got older.
Being holistically minded, they diligently checked their blood sugar level
every morning on an empty stomach. After turning age 50
they struggled with their diet, introducing a carb-blocker to reduce their
blood sugar levels. Now in their 70's, they wanted to try our
polysaccharide/polypeptide (PSP) product,
Cellular PSP, for its many holistic benefits, including improved
immune system, vision, cardiovascular function, balancing blood sugar
disorders, slowing brain
 degeneration,
normalizing leaky gut imbalances, etc. After starting our Cellular PSP,
their morning glucose level shot up to 116 mg/dL. (A fasting blood sugar
level less than 100 mg/dL is normal. A fasting blood sugar level from 100 to
125 mg/dL is considered prediabetic and 126 mg/dL or higher on two separate
tests, is considered diabetic.) Now they
were concerned if they continue taking
Cellular PSP without their carb-blocker, it will harm their
pancreas. Here is the integrative "wholistic" response we gave our concerned
client.
First of all, it is
not a good idea to use
one-time blood values to measure holistic benefits. In our Western
society
 we
seek instant gratification, so we want Western allopathic medicine to give
us instant results. To supplement the symptoms if our blood values are too
low, the doctor prescribes the red pill. If our blood values are too high,
the doctor prescribes the blue pill. Then we measure the same blood value in
one week (or a month) to find out if it is working. Holistic wellness is not
so simplistic, producing such instantaneous linear results. One must work
with the body's own
natural healing processes and timetable, to regenerate and rebuild
the body from within. For example, say one's doctor prescribed more exercise
to improve their cardiovascular health. After the first tennis lesson one
measures their heart rate (or
 heart
rate variability-HRV) and finds it is sky high. Is the correct holistic
conclusion tennis is bad for one's health? Hardly. We would suggest taking a
baseline heart rate (or heart rate variability-HRV) measurement before
starting tennis lessons. Then gradually ease into tennis by scheduling one
lesson per week the first month, two lesson per week the second month and
three lessons per week the third month. During the fourth month, at least 4
hours after a tennis lesson, measure your heart rate (or heart rate
variability-HRV) and compare these numbers to your baseline before starting
tennis lessons. The key here is to not rely on a single measurement but look
for a healthy trend after gradually introducing a healthier lifestyle.
The second thing to
look at is the overall holistic purpose. We are not looking at taking
Cellular PSP to instantly lower our blood sugar levels. That would be the
product doing the work, just like the carb-blocker is
supplementing the symptoms. The high blood sugar levels immediately
after taking Cellular PSP (rice powder) is the body's digestive
 response,
not a measure of the long-term benefits. The "wholistic" way Cellular PSP
works is by first feeding ALL the glands and organs of our body alpha-glycan
