Optimum Choices is not housing these dogs and has no further information on them. We are simply posting their pictures here as a service to the Misha May Foundation. Please contact Lorraine May, executive director, for further information at info@mishamayfoundation.org. Applications may be downloaded from the links below and e-mailed to Lorraine.

You can read about our adoption process and submit an application for dogs at www.mishamayfoundation.org, Adoptions page. As we do not have a facility, we can make arrangements for you to meet the dog you are interested in after you complete and email an application. Or, you are welcome to check our events page, mishamayfoundation.org/events.htm for our scheduled adoptathons. If you want to know if a certain dog will be at an event, please email mishamayfoundation@gmail.com for that information.

If you aren't sure about adopting yet, but would like to help an animal, please consider becoming a foster home. We offer 2 week, 30 day, 90 day and longer foster contracts. We often need emergency help and it is easier for us if we have approved applications on file. We will train you and prepare you.

Tragic: Out of every 10 families that get dogs, only 4 families keep theirs beyond the first year. Misha May is determined to change that, so we place a great deal of importance on where each dog goes. We want to work with you for a forever match. Adoption fees for dogs begin at $100. We are always in need of foster homes, volunteers and donations of money and supplies. Email info@mishamayfoundation.org if you would like more information.

Shadow

I am a 7 month old Dachshund / Chihuahua mix - a Chi-Weenie, if you please! I weigh about 12 pounds and am personality plus! Some would even call me feisty! I am very alert and smart and attentive. I have lots of energy, but can also cuddle in a pleasant companionable way. Please don't apply for me if you do not have a fenced yard. We tried that and it didn't work. I must have my own space to run around in. I also would like to live with another dog to be my buddy and playmate.

I am still very much a puppy and can be very mouthy, so children are not my first choice. I am house trained and crate trained and love my toys. I can jump straight up in the air 4 feet, and do it often. Using that, my foster mom has taught me two tricks together: 'high 10', where we touch 2 tiny paws to 2 hands, followed by 'up', where I jump into her arms.

My name is Shadow because I love to be with my people and will follow them around. Please don't change it, as it has been my name my whole life. I have lived well with a cat and with many kinds of dogs. On cold days I wear a sweater and my foster mom watches my feet very carefully. I love the warm hugs when we come back inside! Let me know if you think you have a big heart and warm hugs for me! Shadow's adoption fee is $250. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and micro chipped.

Shasta Shasta

Shasta

Shasta is a calm, beautiful 5 year old spayed female purebred Miniature Pinscher. She is house trained and crate trained, and as sweet as can be. She does well with most other dogs who are respectful, but would be fine in a home as the only dog. She does need a secure yard as she prefers to run around there, rather than go on walks. Mostly, she prefers to be inside on your lap. In this cold weather, she wants back in quickly!

Shasta has many human and dog friends and delights in the attention. Everyone she has met has become her friend, even if she tends to be a little hesitant at the initial meeting. Shasta's best home is without children, as she seems nervous around them. She would not enjoy dog parks or daycare situations.

When Misha May took in Shasta, she had a broken leg and a BB lodged in her chest. She has fully recovered from the physcial injuries, but we believe this abuse left her worried. Today she is like a little sunbeam waiting to shine on her perfect person. Do not doubt that if you adopt Shasta, you will have a devoted friend for life.

Shasta's adoption fee is $250. She is spayed, micro chipped, and up-to-date on vaccines.

Babs

Babs is a small spayed female 6 month old Black Lab mix. She is very lovable and eager to please. She is a pretty typical energetic pup who loves to play and receive attention. She is very responsive to positive training and loves her treats. She has immediately loved all of the people she has met.

Babs needs a secure yard with a 6 foot fence and a family who has time to have fun with her. We think she would do well in a situation with another friendly dog, and she seems interested but not too forward with the cats in her foster home. Children need to be old enough to understand how to interact with a lively pup!

Babs' adoption fee is $200. She is spayed, micro chipped, and up-to-date on vaccines.
